Elephants, Minstrels and Fairies in Acacia Park

June 30th, 2010, 2:30 pm by

The Renaissance Festival visits downtown Colorado Springs every summer promoting the annual event in Larkspur.  Paige the elephant and several actors has been visiting Acacia Park for as long as I can remember and pretty much every year we wind up taking a look and sometimes it makes in the paper and sometimes is doesn’t.  Every once in a while something different and fun happens and you find yourself in the right place at the right time.

Horsethief Park Trail

June 30th, 2010, 1:04 pm by

A great afternoon for a hike. Christian head up to Horsethief Park and found a great trail. To get to the trail, go south on  Highway 67  at Divide, then drive about 9 miles.  The trailhead doesn’t have a sign, but is easy to spot from the parking lot. Check out more trails at OutThereColorado.com.

Christian stopped by to check out the fun of this kayak race on the Oh Be Joyful creek. The creek is in the Slate River drainage west of Crested Butte. Started in 1995 the race features some good drops on the steep creek course.  Check out the photo gallery of the craziness of this white water fun.

It’s the first day of practice on the mountain for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Jerilee got up extra early and got the rare treat of driving up the peak in the dark. The view is great and watching the sunrise is  spectacular and so is Jerilee’s work.
